Hi! If you’re new here, welcome :) This is an outfit-roundup style post where I chat about what I’ve been wearing and link the items (or similar ones) where available.

My posts always include free previews for all subscribers. As a one-woman team, paid subscribers make running this newsletter possible! For $8/month you get to read everything and join the chat—which I hope is the resale shopper’s equivalent of insider trading stock tips. FW99 Miu Miu shoe just dropped on Depop? I got you.

I also offer a comped subscription trial if you support eSims for Gaza through sharing or donating. Just reply back to this email 💕

decaf latte for viv

My eyes are closed but the pointy V sounds of my name bring me back. I saunter over to the window and grab my latte, careful not to tip the foam over the lip of the speckled ceramic mug. It was my first latte in about two weeks (idk, I just haven’t been in the mood) but my luteal parasites were screaming for it. That and raspberry-filled donut holes.

It’s January but not really, because today is almost 70 degrees and the direct sun is baking my raspberry jelly-smeared smile. I LOVE CALIFORNIA. Nothing feels as good as the sun on my skin. Shooting through the tiny crochet holes of my sweater. I kick off my boots. Enjoy it now, because tomorrow we’re getting a storm.

I’ve been a little more inspired this week.

Here are some themes in what I’ve been wearing.

MONOTONAL and MONOTEXTURAL. I was thinking: we’ve all heard of monochrome. People who make monochrome their thing (especially if they only ever wear all-black) will never let you hear the end of it. I could do a monochrome top and bottom set, maybe, but I gravitate too much towards color tension to commit fully.

A monotonal outfit. Eckhaus Latta sweater (sold out most places, this SEA sweater is the only one I’d consider a fair comparable for its natural fiber composition and use of knit peekaboo), old season Erica Tanov slip dress, APC boots, vintage Coach Ergo

I styled this outfit around rich, tonal colors in the sepia family. Everything looks warm and sun-baked: sand, topaz, chocolate. This approach to color was definitely influenced by my trips to New Mexico last summer. If you like this color palette give my friend Connie a follow on IG, she does the whole monotonal earthy/leather/americana look so well.

These fabulous dark brown knee boots are old A.P.C via Japanese eBay. ($70, couldn’t pass them up). Unlike the ultra-stiff leather tall boot styles that seem to be popular, these have more give and crinkle with my gait. My calves are a little bow-legged so they never fit “straight” into a boot shaft. I wish I had a model name for you to search but unfortunately couldn’t find any visual matches online. The closest approximation in terms of silhouette would be the suede “Felicia” style but word of warning that the fit of A.P.C boots are really hit-or-miss imo. (I tried a pair in the SF store and couldn’t get my calf into the Heloise style). Thankfully, Japanese eBay sellers tend to be quite meticulous with listing measurements so I felt very comfortable ordering these.

As for monotextural, this is all about picking one fabric. In the summer I love doing a silk tank and silk pants. Or silk dress over silk pants, per cult princess uniform rules. For winter I find pleasure in knit, plush everything. Especially a knit pant.

Cause sweaters are sweaters and kind of expected, you know? But a really beautiful knit pant makes me feel like an LMFT who just opened her own practice. I’ve been wearing these red cropped cashmere ones all week:
