Last Friday, I attended my first major fashion show: the Thom Browne GQ Bowl hosted at the Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco.

Billed as a fashion-meets-sports event ahead of Super Bowl weekend, my mind was racing with excitement from the moment the invitation landed in my inbox. What was I going to wear? Who was going to be there? Who would I be sitting next to?? The only thing I was certain of was that I would be wearing my stuffed dog purse as an homage to Hector Browne.

The Molehill has always been proudly based in the Bay Area, covering hyperlocal style at places like Berkeley Bowl and Outside Lands. So it felt like a wink from the universe that my first fashion show “came to me” in my home city of San Francisco.

For this newsletter, I considered what a Molehill approach to fashion show coverage would sound like, especially as I attend my first NYFW. I’m figuring it out as I go, but you can expect voice-y, camera roll recaps with personal reflections and a light touch of reporting. Most of all, I just don’t want it to feel so serious. We need more FUN in fashion!!!
