my favorite second hand vintage natural fibers brand is Trader Bay! I am wearing a trader bay sweater as I type this and it is soooo warm and soft and drapes in such a nice way when worn. It is also obviously knitted entirely, not knitted in panels and stitched together. They’re only like 30-40$ on ebay!
I’m a thredup super fan. I buy the 100% cotton stuff and dye it with natural dyes. I love your vintage skirt suggestions but find them awkward lengths. I’ll have to try some clever layering.
I've never bought secondhand before but I like the look of Donni Rico. I was so sad when Pushing Daisies was canceled it was so fun and whimsical I loved it
My favourite brand for secondhand natural fibre sweaters is Peruvian Unlimited on ebay. They use mostly alpaca wool, sometimes mixed with regular wool. I've seen more men's than women's by them, but that's mostly what I buy for vintage sweaters anyway.
There was a secondary Liz Claiborne line called LizSport that i love for their natural fibers and interesting construction of basics! Also the brand Oska makes realllly good linen basic and big ass pants. Thanks for this threadup tip!
i am an art history student all the way across the pond in poland and my favourite natural fiber brand is magda kuźniacka! she is a local wrocław designer and makes beautiful handbags from secondhand cow hide rugs and carpets sourced all over europe. not only is every bag special visually, they’re made to last and i fully stand behind giving these natural animal materials a second life. here’s her page! https://www.instagram.com/mkuzniacka?igsh=MnBlNW91ZjBrcjR3
i love vintage l.l. bean! but my favorite way to shop as a short, kind of curvy, crafty girl is buying fabric and custom-making something fit to my own measurements. natural fibers only, mostly cotton and linen. there are great resale pages on ig/fb for other sewists who sell fabric from their stash, and it's the best way to get good deals because they all also have amazing taste!
I love ThredUp! Ngl I kinda miss their old branding though.
I love filtering my searches for all silk - particularly dresses and tops. And I also love cotton & linen for tops and pants. I scored a really great pair of linen trousers from Ralph Lauren off ThredUp last year!
Thanks for this post! I’ve been trying to be more intentional about my fabric choices when shopping. I love finding old land’s end at the thrift stores. Usually can find some good cotton basics 🫶🏽
I love looking for second hand Levi’s! Always find them at the PicknWeight secondhand store in Berlin’s Kreuzberg. Also look for Cos or And Other Stories wool or cashmere sweaters when shopping second hand. Would also love to find a good Aran sweater! Nice article, thank you ☺️

ME TOO the costuming and set design was straight out of a daydream
Same. A sad casualty of the writer’s strike. That show was such a feast for the eyes.
Viv, I've been an absolute ThreadUp fiend these past months. While, sometimes it does require some digging, their 100% Silk options are such gems!

Hmm, my favorite second-hand source for natural fibers… I’ve been looking at peter nygard jackets… wool, leather, silk.

loooooove thredup - always on the lookout for max mara pieces on there! high quality basics in natural fibers 🤍
Clio is a great brand for 100% linen tops, and one of my favorite wool sweaters is vintage Benneton
will look into clio!
I have had luck with secondhand Everlane 100% cotton clothes and continually search for LL Bean and J Crew sweaters!
the old llbean/jcrew quality is so good

once you try a nice comfy natural fiber sweater its so hard to tolerate acrylic
I really hope that search filters for fibres become the standard!
would be a game changer
