I bought this 1956 Christian Dior original in a vintage shop in Greenwich Village for about $75 in 1980, had great fun in it and gave it to a thrift shop in Los Angeles in 1988. It sold (or one just like it) in 2002 at auction in London for $31,500 USD. Hey, you can’t hold on to everything!
I wore it to Studio 54 one night; about a dozen of us in ballgowns and the men in black tie trooped over on foot from Angelo Donghia’s 50th birthday dinner at the NY Athletic Club carrying gold and black balloons. They opened the doors wide and we all went straight to the dance floor. Whooo! Party!
Ooh this was excellent. Best part is I watched the finale and came straight here. The Prada line was my fav and I 100% would have missed it if not for your commentary!
love this breakdown + interview! Harper’s shoulder pads were everythinggg this season. would love to see an analysis of her “inside” and non-work clothes for the few who get to see her true, vulnerable self.
overall this season was dark af… but at least Sweetpea and Kwabena getting their payout as “equals” felt like some progress for Harper’s leadership decisions!
