what i wore to a city hall wedding
a july outfit diary.
This was a big month for social dressing: dinner out with friends, going to the ballet, and attending a City Hall wedding. Zooming out, I wore lots of green, lace trim slip dresses, the same gold necklace stack with little variation, and plaid lady purses.
Molehill Miscellany:
There’s a highly anticipated estate sale happening in Berkeley in September, organized by fashion stylist Sabrina Forscutt. Smart marketing to drop videos of the hat and jewelry collections leading up to the sale. Consider me TEASED! The address won’t be publicized until the day before the event.
My latest secondhand silk slip fixation is vintage Victoria’s Secret; I wrote about my six shopping tips for UNSAID.
Swim launches on my radar: my everyday underwear brand, Oddobody, made an 100% organic cotton knit bikini (I imagine this would be nice for the sauna) and Oddli’s bloomer bikini bottoms are just darling. Here for cute buttons on swimwear!
I walked by GAP HQ this week and decided to scope out the Hailey Jean situation in the store. It was madness…a picked-through rack in the back of remaining sizes, surrounded by competitive moms shopping for their daughters, jeans tossed over their arms and shoulders. I tried on a 25 (I’m normally a 26) and it was too long in a way that looked sloppy, yet the waist didn’t sit low enough to look intentional. As a short girl, I’ll stick with the Levi’s Low Loose in the 30” inseam.
July Outfit Diary!
For a languorous summer night dinner at Village Sake
Wearing: vintage Victoria’s Secret silk slip, Margaux Ada pumps, Loren Stewart chain (kindly gifted) with vintage gold candy charm, vintage Miu Miu ponyhair bag. Magenta slip dress and pink dog leash had me feeling a little Elle Woods.
I’m always excited to eat at Village Sake, it’s such a treat. The melt-in-your-mouth pork belly skewers will awaken your deepest carnivorous impulses. Like omg this is the true meaning of life…to eat a lump of caramelized fatty meat on a stick!!!! Also, my cup of “Otter Festival” sake was so clear and fragrant—next time I might buy a bottle to take home.
For refilling on prescription dog food
Wearing: Loren Stewart chains (long and short) with vintage slipper charm from Florence, Cou Cou Iris slip, Hai ballet flats, vintage Coach bag. I freaking love this cotton slip, and also have it in black. Easiest dress for when you want to be casual and comfy.
Mags has gone through a lot in the past few weeks. It’s been tough. Long story short, age is starting to really catch up to her and our daily routine begins and ends with handling pee pads. The bright side is that we are having good results on a JustFoods formula that we supplement with boiled cod filets and homemade smashed garnet yams. If you have a picky poodle you know what a feat it is to find a safe food they actually like. A few people suggested I read Alicia Kennedy’s recent WIRED story about the rise in people making home-cooked dog food, I thought it was an interesting and relatable article.
