Red is all the rage right now. But it’s one of those colors that transcends trends for me. I really love red. One of my biggest style lessons this year was reflecting on what colors I felt best in after analyzing loads of photos, and red topped the list.

If you’ve also been bitten by the proverbial ruby bug, here’s my shortlist of the best red sweaters for fall. I’ve compiled options from familiar brands and my personal favorite: curated resale listings. I’m a firm believer that the most special/high quality/good value options are somewhere on eBay, but it’s so annoying to sift through the vintage knits in cuts that you just know wouldn’t drape well, or brands you’ve never heard of and are unsure about their quality.

Let’s get into it!

Reformation and Sezane going hard on “Cherry Red.” These knits are simple in design (read: thriftable) but well-marketed and styled if you’re looking for a straightforward option.

Reformation’s Dana Sweater - What can I say, their marketing works because I’ve seen this sweater all over my social media. I like to see Ref doing more 100% natural fiber pieces. This one is cashmere.
Sezane’s Gaspard Cardigan - the mohair blend gives it a nice fuzzy texture.

Trusty Uniqlo has a $50 red wool cardigan that looks just like Proenza.

Uniqlo on left, Proenza on right. Because the Uniqlo version is 100% wool, I would chose it over the Proenza (viscose).
