As a lover of red, I appreciated this Coveteur piece on Tibi’s cherry red sock styling for their Spring 24 runway show.

The sock + flat is a trompe-l’oeil, they’re actually boots with a sock upper. The saturation and brightness of the cherry red balances out the pared-down griege-y separates.

Amy Smilovic, Creative Director of Tibi, is a genius at breaking down the how and why of color. I used to tune into her Style Class IG Lives during the pandemic (with the wonderful Dione Davis) and she has genuinely changed the way I think about styling. For the uninitiated, Amy has created a whole language around her style philosophy, geared for the “creative pragmatist.” Affectionately known as CP.

My favorite thing about color-oriented styling is how easy it is to apply to your own closet. The Coveteur article shares a few red sock options that are worth browsing—my favorite socks are from the mysteriously shut-down brand, Dueple, so I’m always on the lookout now for quality socks that aren’t at Comme Si price points…

Back to a pop of cherry red. I’ve been wearing it almost every day this week in some form. I want to walk you through these looks and what I like about them.

A white button down marries a floral skort in this transitional resortwear moment. I kept the color story to these very specific shades of red white and blue throughout. even though the skort has red, the actual pop of cherry red is in the shoes:
