I'm from Colombia, and the ear cuff renaissance was in full peak last year, so much that now almost every jewelry brand offers them. It's very interesting to see how much our designs differ from those in the US.

I have to say, though, that I very much prefer the ear cuffs you showed. Here in Colombia, chunky, funky pieces are more popular so it's nice to see variations that I hadn't thought of before!

that's so interesting Miranda! do you have any ideas as to why is driving the ear cuff popularity in colombia? or who is wearing them (age, gender, demographic groups?) it would be cool to see if this is part of a more global trend

Thanks for asking, Viv! In Colombia, accessorizing is a big part of fashion culture, and the flashier the jewelry, the better. That's likely why ear cuffs became so popular, especially among Gen Z and Millennials. For those without piercings, ear cuffs are the perfect solution to achieve a bold, statement look without committing to an actual piercing. Interestingly, they're also really popular with women aged 35 - 40, many of whom don’t have piercings either. For this group, ear cuffs act as a modern statement piece, giving an edgy yet sophisticated touch. The trend has grown so much that many brands now sell “ear party” sets—combinations of multiple cuffs and chains to decorate the whole ear. Colombian celebrities and influencers have really helped push this accessory into must-have territory!

Love love love!! Especially enamored of the heart + pea cuff combo

I have a single piercing in each lobe but have never gotten additional piercings since my ears are kind of small and I don’t want to experience the pain of cartilage piercing. I used to wear a lot of big statement earrings, but since I commute with a mask on public transit now, I’ve found those hard to wear without their getting tangled up when I take my mask off. I’ve been wearing smaller earrings and am in a little bit of a rut and now I’m thinking that cuffs might be the answer, especially with how smooth-looking several of these are (easier to not snag).

wait omg that's such a good insight about the increase in masking and how it gets tangled up with bigger/dangling earrings :O

for some reason I never was into ear cuffs but the way you styled all of these really gets my attention. they're not just *there* for the sake of being there, they're additive to each outfit

Yay! As a non-pierced girly myself found these pics super helpful and inspiring! Faris and Hernan Herdez are two other brands doing cute ear cuffs. I ordered a couple from cled with your code!

i haven't heard of hernan herdez, so i'm gonna check it out now!!!

https://farisfaris.com/ has the BEST cuffs and everything is made to order by their small team in house

the peas n cuff combo!!! maybe it’s time for me to be adventurous and check them out!

very cute & love how you styled them but calling the Cled one “accessible” in terms of price is wild, it’s $140 😭

Viv Chen's avatar

apologies carson i should have been more clear with my wording! when i was speaking about accessibility, i was thinking of the entry point into the brand because they have glass necklace charms i've bought for $35. thanks for keeping me accountable with my wording <3

carson tarabochia-martin's avatar

ahh that makes sense! i wish the cuffs were closer to that price point because they are so charming

love them/this so so much!! I have so many clip ons and ear cuffs from my grandma (who never had her ears pierced) and I love them dearly but this post is making me think I need to buy some more modern items eek :3

This has me so inspired! I fear the ear cuff renaissance hasn't reached europe yet BUT I have noticed a ton of stylish men, especially in Denmark, wearing little hoop earrings with charms

I am obsessed — and also have a little nose ring from Dorsey. The ones I really love and could add to my collection forever. If money were no object would be Hanna Yoo Works. Also an independent Asian maker. Drop dead gorgeous. Beautiful storytelling. And incredible engineering to feel good on the ear. I also want to explore things that sit kind of on the lobe on the bottom part of the lobe! 😘 thank you for the treat!

These are all so good!!! Love the pea + heart

had the 'ears pierced with needle' experience at age 9, and frankly - boo, hissss,, 0/10 do not recommend (piercing got infected and I let them close). Ear cuffs are very welcome since they're not lobe-dependent, these are pretty and quite different from what I've seen where I am (mostly delicate gold things)

love the triple pop of red look and the girly miguelina silk cami, it looks perfect with green nails!

my ears reject any and every metal i try so i've become a devoted ear cuff wearer. https://www.maisonmiru.com makes nice basic ones and they do a good sample sale in dec and june every year. i have been wearing some almost daily for years and they haven't tarnished. i also love the justine clenquet clip ons for special occasions. they aren't pain free but they are pretty comfortable for the most part and don't look too much like clip ons.
