A few months ago on IG, I asked for your thoughts on summer dressing. The things that makes your heart sing and the things that make your heart sink. I collected your responses and created moodboards, but then completely forgot about them until I was cleaning out my Substack drafts folder.

It got me thinking retrospectively about this summer as it draws to a close. The sun is setting sooner every day. Trader Joe’s has pumpkins out front. I’m starting to bookmark lasagna and stew recipes.

This summer: did I live it fully? did i savor the best the season has to offer? I did feel the sun on my skin. Lying by the pool with a bottle of fizzy guava goddess kombucha, driving through New Mexico with my arm dangling out the window. I indulged in the freedom of less: halter tops, smock dresses, no-clothes clothes.

We should all be our own fashion inspirations, our own muses. It’s an exercise in self-love to look at photos of yourself and admire. Nostalgia comes easily to me (maybe too easily), I like looking at old photos and old outfits to remind myself of the specific thoughts and emotions I had at the time. lIt’s like listening to an album that brings you back to a time that only you fully understand the personal significance of. The same goes for documenting my outfits.

Here’s a photo tour of my favorite five outfits from the summer, what I loved about them, and details on each piece:
