Everyone loves flats right now.

It seems that the fashion cognoscenti has bucked the heel in favor of a more low-key expression of fancy footwear. Anna of

The Wardrobe Edit
observed the dominance of flats at Fashion Week: “I was in the minority in my heeled boots. Most were in flats and from a practical standpoint I get it. Think ballet pumps, loafers, Mary-Janes and mesh flats by the bucketload.”

When I think of the buzzy shoes from the past year that people actually wear and walk around in, it’s Tabis, Sandy Liang Mary Janes, Repettos and other variants of the ballet flat. They’re all very cute.

However, in my heart there is one quintessential leather flat. These shoes are for the leather flat purist who could take or leave bows, Tabi camel toes and other markers of contemporary ornamentation.
