30 irresistibly adorable pieces of jewelry inspired by the world of beatrix potter
bunny in a watering can. egg in a golden frying pan.
Happy Friday. This week has been SO long and based on the poll in my recent newsletter, the mood is generally grim: 36% of you are depressed AF, 51% are meh, 13% are thriving (tell us what you’re doing).
Things helping with my seasonal depression: sauna sessions, clam chowder, cashmere handwarmers, new episodes of Severance, trying pole dance classes and signing up for my first martial arts class this weekend!!! The just-turned-30-urge to pick up a combat sport…it might be amazing or it might be disastrous.
As a Californian, the active fires and toxic air in LA continue to be top of mind—here’s a comprehensive resources list from
. Thanks for your patience as I pack zine orders (via IG stories, I’ll post again if I have more zines) as a fundraiser for the Anti-Recidivism Coalition to support incarcerated firefighters.Personally, I’m still in a winter slump outfit-wise—wearing the same cashmere sweats and cardigan on repeat—but I have been playing with jewelry!
Building a base outfit requires practical considerations, like how are you gonna survive the polar vortex today? But putting on a cuff or changing up my charm jumble is like frivolous icing on the cake, the cherry on top. These aren’t practical items and that’s kind of nice!
Weather be damned, it means you can just revel in the prettiness of it all.
Before we get into the details of the secondhand sonar curated drop today, here’s a tour of my recent jewelry camera roll.
A vintage gold bean and jade pea (passed down from my grandmother) on a rolo chain. I call this my leguminati charm jumble.
The Elsa Peretti open heart ring stacked with a Catbird gold signet, next to my chunky zircona signet from Danica Stamenec’s silver modernist drops.
A Mondo Mondo cuff I snagged a few years ago on a Farfetch sale. I’m playing with my Dehanche belt as a headband here lol.
My beloved jade bean!!!!!! With my bean shaped ring from CLED (code VIVTHEMOLE for a discount at checkout). Another strong leguminati look.
Added my Kara Yoo Lucky Cat charm to my jumble to warm up for the Lunar New Year looks.
My inspiration for this round of vintage jewelry sourcing was Spring motifs.
The world of Beatrix Potter. Bunnies. Alliums. Pea pods. Ovine shapes. Cakes. Plump little animals. I’m dreaming of warmer days, nature’s rebirth, carrot cake, pea tendrils, rabbit tails, spotted eggs, jubilance.
This is one of the best sourcing roundups I’ve done.
I managed to find a GARLIC BULB shaped silver ring.
An egg in a GOLD FRYING PAN.
A WHITE SWAN with a long curved neck made of milky jade.
A sterling silver RADISH brooch with dangling roots.
I was kicking my feet putting this together. It’s all very sweet, very delightful, and very Molehill-coded.
Here’s a sneak peek of the 30 pieces I found (doesn’t gold and silver look so nice against duck egg blue?)
This is about half of what I linked in the doc.
All secondhand, primarily 9K/14K gold and sterling silver
Prices ranges from $15 to $180, and most are under $100
I even found an elusive jade bean pendant—not the same Elsa Peretti one I have, but the only secondhand listing I’ve seen that is (1) actually made of jade (2) is bean-shaped
The secondhand sonar drops are a paid reader perk, and this is one you don’t wanna miss out on :)
