In the Charles Perrault ‘s “Donkeyskin” story, the Princess requests three dresses - one, with the colour of the moon, one with the colour of the sun and one - with the colour of time , and then, the actual skin of the gold-popping donkey. Growing up, I loved to imagine how one dresses in the colour of time, what is even that colour. And the moon as well.

Elmer really inspired my love of color! I’ve always loved elephants and seeing the illustrations of a huge, majestic creature in such bold colors opened my eyes to embracing my plus size body with love and whimsy ✨

There is a book called the Queen Who Stole the Sky wherein she has servants cut down the sky and make a dress from it so she could wear sunsets and sparkling nights and I have loved that idea all my life. The queen was the villain but imagine if your dress changed as the sky changed. I think about it all the time

This is a very cute article, especially since I have a fondness for children's book illustrations, but I do feel the need to point out Brooklinen has offices and factories in Israeli settlements. I don't think they are officially on the BDS list but I know I have heard of calls to boycott them. Wanted to mention it as you have been vocal on Gaza issues, but also because Brooklinen does try to obscure their ties to Israel.

I’m obsessed with the cozy cottagecore vibes of the frog and toad books! Their little overalls and earth tone fits greatly influenced my style in college. Now I dress with more color but want to maintain the comfortable whimsy

As a little girl I have to say my favorite childrens books and style inspos came from Madaline and Fancy Nancy! I loved Madaline's chic Parisian adventures, and Nancy's absolute love for everything sparkly, frilly, and glamorous. She was the og high-fem vintage collector and just absolute icon (chappel roan would be jealous) 💝🎀🪩
