I love the idea of a handwritten note! What a charming idea (especially if you eventually pass your shoes onto your kids, other family members, or friends)!
i keep the nice ones but toss the flimsy ones out. before this org system, i'd use nice shoeboxes to store stationary and receipts lol. if you don't have old boxes or don't want to buy a set of archival storage boxes, your org options would be best suited for some kind of rack or shelf where the shoes are freestanding, or an over the door vertical pocket organizer. i've used all of those before which can be more space saving, but i like how this system protects the shoes and looks pretty!
