I loved Made With Lau’s recipes!! His chicken congee recipe is so easy to make and the perfect sick day food or for a rainy day cozy meals as the days get shorter and colder
Are you me? I'm obsessed with Siren's "Freak of Nature" oolong tea and also am planning to polish my jewelry and am currently simmering some brother right now. Also on my list is a picnic with friends at the Mountainview cemetery where we'll read gothic poetry to one another and sip on a fall drink. Oh, and buying tights. What's fall without a fresh pair of tights?
that tea is soooo special, i need to figure out where to buy my own to brew at home! i love the mountainview gothic poetry idea - there are so many moody nature spaces in oakland to enjoy. are you doing black tights or a colored pair? :)
Love Sirene!! Their 'freak of nature' oolong is an extremely high-end rendition of the genre of oolongs called milk oolong, which have that buttery note!
last time i went to the plow, i only had to wait 15 min because my friend hadn't arrived yet. this was the end of january, monday at noon! i've noticed the closer to breakfast, the longer the wait
The opening story (the shower part) kind of reminds me of The Coin by Yasmin Zaher. The character in the book calls the rolls of dead skin “snakes.” It would be a good fall read!
Just hopped on my bike to get my COVID and flu shot before I read this!!! 😷🤕 also made me think, I would love to see your bike friendly fall outfits 🚲🍁
Loveeeee the callout for COVID vaccines!!!!! 😷
getting vaccinated is stylish behavior
And don't forget to update your TDAP! Covid and flu you can do at the drugstore, but in this state, TDAP is a doctor shot.
this + a slight chill in the air this morning in pasadena, ca inspires my own fledgeling list:
1. visit old sasoon bakery, become friends with joseph
2. get up into the mountains
3. make brown butter cookie dough to keep in the freezer for blue days
4. finally visit the pacifica asia museum
the cookie dough freezer idea is great

I made the chicken congee and his whisking technique was a game changer for texture! I was like, so THIS is how restaurants get it so fluffy.

Put your sterling silver in a bowl and park it next to the TV so you can polish absentmindedly while watching or talking on phone
yes! i need something to fidget with (also so i dont reflectively reach for my phone too much)
This is such a good list!!! But come to the Rialto in El Cerrito and then go to Banter for some wine and sandwiches
oo! i didn't know banter did sandos - do you have a fave?
Yes they only do one! A cornichon, butter, and jamon sando

You’ve inspired me to make my own seasonal list for CT/NYC - so that when the holidays roll around, I don’t think, But wait what happened to fall??
it's a perfect 8 weeks that FLASHES by
Fun read, thank you. Any chance you can share your tailor’s contact info?

my bike outfits are honestly super bland, but i love a simple relaxed pant/jean!
it's like oddobody decided to make the most molehill-coded underwear set ever
i couldnt believe my eyes
I love this! I just relocated to the Bay area and have bookmarked this.
welcome!
Super fun to read this, Viv! I’ll look for you at Sirene!
