20 green cashmere cardigans inspired by prada (mostly under $50)
+ things I loved and hated this week.
Happy Sunday everyone. Today’s letter is a recap of the week and a secondhand roundup inspired by the scrumptious green knits that have become a Prada/Miu Miu runway staple since the 90s:
A Molehill reader, Lindsay, started a Chat discussion on Quince’s shady business practices this week, which have been exposed in articles. Readers shared negative experiences with Quince. So I was like hmmm, let’s research some niche or vintage cashmere brands that offer a high quality-to-price ratio value.
A peek of the cardigans I found. The full 20 (all cashmere, most under $50) and a list of key brands to know are beyond the paywall.
Things I loved:
This outfit I wore to drop off a beanbag chair at my sibling’s place. We had sweetgreen chicken parm bowls and shared a vintage cola Olipop for lunch. It was really fun and I feel grateful that me and my siblings have the kind of adult friendship where we can bring out our inner child personalities.
Reminiscing about college. I went to Pomona College. I see some 5C readers here—a lot of Pitzer representation, but none from my actual alma mater. You guys are cooler anyways. (shhh). October tends to bring up rose-tinted collegiate memories for me. Walking to class in my black skinny jeans with DIY ripped knees, styling a lace H&M minidress with purple Colourpop lipstick and BP ankle booties to the school’s annual Yule Ball (*we were millennials together*), watching pirated episodes of GIRLS on my clunky Lenovo Thinkpad….to celebrate the back-to-school spirit, I am doing an audio post on all school + career-related questions so send me your questions. A few readers have dropped their questions in the Chat, and you can leave yours as a comment here or message me back privately if you prefer.
Finally finding a great tailor. Years ago when I worked in San Francisco, I used to love Jacky Tailor in Chinatown, but he’s since closed shop. I’ve flitted around various East Bay tailors since…and it’s not unlike finding a therapist, honestly.
*keep reading for my go-to tailor, my hates of the week, and green cashmere goodness!
